Against the background of globalisation, cross-cultural marketing and cross-cultural psychology are important elements of the degree course in Business Psychology. They include the most important facets of market and consumer psychology. The course is oriented to the latest standards in European business psychology. On the basis of the EAWOP Reference Model (WOP Advanced Certificate), knowledge and skills are acquired in three different areas: Business Psychology, Industrial and Organisational Psychology and Personnel Psychology. In addition, the basics of Business Administration and International Management (Global Business) are taught. Project work and training sessions also serve to encourage the development of management competences in the international context.
Study Programme of »Business Psychology«
The course of study in »Business Psychology« is based on solid Business Administration and International Management (Global Business) skills and communicates comprehensive basic knowledge in those areas. This is complemented by the most important facets of Organisational, Labour and Consumer Psychology. The course also focuses on the selection and development of personnel. With lessons such as »Cross-cultural Psychology«, this course in business psychology also prepares students for tasks in cross-cultural management. This international course of study is accompanied right from the beginning by two foreign-language courses – English and Spanish. Our students thus build up very good foreign-language skills which they need for their internship and semester abroad.
International and practically oriented management studies
The course of study includes after the 2nd and 3rd semesters an internship in Germany and one abroad, in which our students can apply their specialist interests in various companies and departments before choosing their special subject to study. This makes it easier for students to decide on an elective and generates valuable practical experience which prepares them for their impending career. For students of »Business Psychology«, this may be a career in market and consumer psychology or advertising and sales, in international groups, in small or medium-sized enterprises at home or abroad or in consulting companies or agencies.
In the following semester abroad, not only are the foreign-language skills gained during the intensive language training at the university consolidated, but our students also acquire cross-cultural competences, get to know the country and culture and establish valuable contacts. The most popular partner universities for students of Business Psychology are the New College in Durham and the National University in San Diego. But you have a total of more than 40 partner universities in 20 countries to choose from.
Special subjects
When students come back from abroad, several practical projects take place in the 5th and 6th semesters (including.consumer surveys or advertising design) and subjects are dealt with in great detail. We offer the following special subjects:
