Since July 2008, the EBC University of Applied Sciences has been officially recognised as a private university by the ‘Behörde für Wissenschaft und Forschung (BWF)’ (Ministry of Science and Research) in the German federal state of Hamburg. That means that our degrees are comparable with degrees from state universities of applied sciences.
The examination regulations and the individual Bachelor degree courses were approved by the Hamburg Senate and the university was authorised to grant academic titles. The EBC Universities in Berlin, Dresden and Düsseldorf were officially recognised by the respective federal states. Since 01/10/2010, the EBC University of Applied Sciences has presented itself as one institution.
The degree courses at the EBC University of Applied Sciences are accredited by the FIBAA (Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation). The FIBAA accredits economics-oriented Bachelor and Master degree courses in tertiary education and confirms academic acceptance, professional relevance and market acceptance of the individual courses of study.
In the interest of continuous quality assurance, the seminars at the EBC University of Applied Sciences are anonymously evaluated. At the end of each semester, the students evaluate all the seminars they attended as well as the relevant lecturers. The grading and evaluation of the tuition and the university teachers are an important basis for deciding on the further improvement of the tuition offered and the curriculum of the following semester.
The EBC University of Applied Sciences is one of the few universities with a verified management system according to international standards. In summer 2011, the EBC University of Applied Sciences was certified as an educational establishment according to the standard DIN EN ISO 9001.
High quality academic studies
The certification according to international standards was carried out by CERTQUA, a service organisation run jointly by the ‘Bundesvereinigung der Deutschen Arbeitgeberverbände’, the ‘Deutscher Industrie- und Handelskammertag DIHK’, the ‘Wuppertaler Kreis e. V. ’ and the ‘Zentralverband des Deutschen Handwerks’. Questioning of the participants and attendance of lectures were important elements in the certification procedure. The responsible auditor checked whether the prescribed processes of quality management were implemented in practice. The successful implementation of the certified management system underlines the demands that the EBC University of Applied Sciences makes on itself to keep the conditions for its students constant and on the highest possible level.
