Deadlines for submitting application documents to the International Office:
31/01 for the winter semester
31/05 for the summer semester
Please note that the deadlines vary between partner universities - it may take a while before you hear from the partner university.
- Applications as ERASMUS scholarship
- French language skills for choosing a French course
Please submit the following documents to the EBC International Office:
- Application form
- two passport photos
- Performance record of the EBC Hochschule (printout from the virtual campus)
- Copy of identity card
- Learning Agreement (the Erasmus Learning Agreement will be sent to you by the International Office upon successful nomination at the partner university)
The host university reserves the right to decide on admission. You will receive further information on your matriculation from HELMo or on site after your admission.
(Status: 25.04.2018, VvH/KMa)
We have an ERASMUS partnership with this university. You can apply for an ERASMUS place (Attention - the number of ERASMUS places is limited).
For the participation in the ERASMUS program, an administration fee of 750,-€ is due. In this case, no further tuition fees will be charged at the ERASMUS university in which the student is enrolled.
Cost of living
Helmo recommends an average monthly cost of living (including accommodation) of around €700. Please note that you may have travel costs the further away you live from the university or how much time you have to allow for travel to and from the university. A slightly more expensive room in a more central location could then be cheaper than one outside. It is also important to note that especially at the beginning of your stay, higher costs (e.g. for the rent deposit, the ticket, etc.) may arise.
Some discounts are available with the International Student Card.
Students who receive an ERASMUS grant can combine it with AuslandsBAföG. On the one hand, the usual BAföG conditions apply. Each Studentenwerk processes applications for a country or region; the Studentenwerk Köln is responsible for Belgium.
At least 20 ECTS must be successfully completed during the semester abroad for recognition at the EBC Hochschule.
Learning Agreement (LA)
With your application you submit a Learning Agreement (LA) on which you enter courses or modules of at least 20 ECTS which you would like to take. The number of credits per course varies between countries and universities, so make sure you get accurate information. The International Office will confirm your selection or ask for adjustments if necessary. The LA is the foundation for the recognition of courses at the EBC Hochschule and is therefore obligatory.
Transcript of Records (ToR)
Your Transcript of Records, the semester abroad, verifies the successfully completed courses. You present the original transcript to the International Office after the semester abroad.
The average of your performances is converted according to the modified Bavarian formula. 20 ECTS are hereby recognized and are included in the overall grade of your studies.
Further information on conversion can be found here.
Students with an EU citizenship do not need a visa. If you are a citizen of another country, please contact the respective embassy to apply for a visa.

Helmo has its own student residences. However, this is without guarantee. If you would like to apply for a room, please contact the office in charge here well in advance (preferably after you have been nominated positively as an ERASMUS student by the EBC Hochschule).
You must have valid health insurance. If you have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), you are also covered in Belgium. However, for safety’s sake, ask your health insurance company for further details.
